Welcome to AXIL STUDIO my name is Chris Stewart. I founded AXIL STUDIO as a furniture design workshop in Albuquerque, NM, driven by my passion for modern design, details, and joinery. While earning my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in architecture, I developed a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and the art of creating functional, beautiful pieces. The name AXIL comes from the botanical term for the upper angle of a leaf and the stem that supports it. The union of geometry and nature seemed perfect for a wood furniture studio.

I design and build every piece in my home studio. Using domestic hardwoods and natural finishes, each piece of furniture is made with reverence for the natural beauty of the materials. Crafted using traditional joinery and featuring a modern, minimalist aesthetic, every piece is meticulously built to be cherished for generations.
